Severe Downpours Exacerbate Conditions for Evacuated Residents of Gaza, Officials Alert
Persistent precipitation over the past week have compounded the precarious situation of the hundreds of thousands of evacuated residents in the region, according to humanitarian organizations.
"Horrendous" Conditions Brings Serious Threats
A official characterized the weather overnight as "horrendous", with precipitation so severe that up to 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the streets.
"Last night was really horrendous for the residents. The storms were so strong... And the gusts were so powerful," said the representative.
Officials express grave worry that children sheltering in makeshift shelters in damp attire will contract hypothermia and additional ailments.
Fatalities and Widespread Loss
Health authorities have stated that one baby has died from the cold and no fewer than 11 other people have been killed in structural failures triggered by the storms.
Additional accounts suggest a greater death toll. Officials reported that numerous residential buildings had totally fallen and scores had been partly destroyed.

Aid Efforts Considered Inadequate
Agencies have escalated deliveries of tarpaulins, bedding and clothes following the halt in hostilities commenced, but they have said there is still not enough aid entering.
"We are operating tirelessly to bring in that relief and to allocate it, but the magnitude of the necessities is so enormous that we continue to see a great number of families and minors who are genuinely suffering nightly," stated one official.
Long-Term Issues and Agreement Terms
The second phase of the agreement encompasses arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the withdrawal of troops, and other provisions.
Humanitarian bodies have underscored the need for "expanded and ongoing aid to address urgent and ongoing needs."
The conflict was triggered by an attack in the autumn of 2023. Later actions have caused a high number of casualties in the area, as per health ministry reports.
