Iranian Forces State Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing assault against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any impact is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
