Hulu is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The most recent action-packed instalment that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for embracing violence and mayhem with equal enthusiasm, all while telling captivating, ideologically themed narratives. Little surprise that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two visionaries whose work have exemplified all of those qualities.
What to Expect
Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game series, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' format by having a new location and group of personalities in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also appear in the show, but currently, we do not know what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.
“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners constantly supports me with their ongoing confidence and support.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an standalone series. Every instalment is a take of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can shift from one instalment to the next, while always examining the nature of society through this multifaceted and chaotic viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to partner with Rob and introduce our common bold, ambitious sensibility to the screen.”
A release window for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
