Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Involving Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
